My inspiration this week and what Iām making right now.
Garden flowers, pots and paintings š
Hello my dear friends,
I wanted to share with you a few sources of my inspiration for this week. I always work intuitively- I never have a set plan but it all comes from somewhere. Most of my work is born from my greatest lovesā¦ flowers, nature and adventure. But when itās too hot to go out I find peace and inspiration with my beautiful coffee table book stash, my favourites are Rachel Ashwell (pretty much any of hers) and Living Life Beautifully by Christina Strutt of Cabbages & Roses. Next thing I do is head for my vintage fabric stash! Iāve been sorting through lace and linen, wondering what to keep and what to sell as our move looms closer and I have to be organised (something that doesnāt come easy to me). I have always been addicted to antique linen and lace, I think that is what draws me to working with porcelain, I love the beautiful off white tones and the delicate texture of it. Iām going to be making some linen inspired plates soon. Plus my new addition is coming along nicely, Iāve been making porcelain jewellery which I canāt wait for you to see!
I also took solitude At Wrest Park on Monday as it was my birthday and I wanted to do something beautiful despite the heat. So i set off with cake and coffee to sit by the lake, only the ducks ended up with all my cake š
When it finally cooled down I started work on a new collection for my website, Iām making bowls, plates and cups. I also wanted to share the oil paintings Iāve been working on this past week. Some will come with me to my art fair next month and some will go on my website.
As my house move is taking up most of my thoughts just lately itās quite nice to be able to disappear off for a day or two so weāre off to Oxford tomorrow for some architecture swooning and good food! Although I bet our conversation is still house stuffā¦ All going well at the moment š¤ I canāt wait to share our new/old cottage with you. Itās dinky and looks like a little dolls house from the front. The back needs work though as a later extension is not in keeping and I just know it will irritate me if we donāt change it. Iām scrap booking lots of ideas for interiors and garden and Iām thinking faded French cottage chic. The garden is just over 1/4 of an acre and we plan on putting in more trees and creating a meadow, somewhere cool to rest when we have our yearly two day heat wave and somewhere beautiful to host workshops!
I also have a favour to ask of you, if you are on Instagram I would be really grateful if you could pop over and give my page some love š Iām not getting much traction at the minute and itās not showing me your accounts either. Iām not being given the option yet to add favourites which is so annoying! So if you could drop me a comment or two that I can respond to- hopefully we can help each other out!
